Pennsylvania College of Technology
Williamsport, Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania College of Technology’s 104,000–square–feet library showcases an impressive selection of furniture styles, wood species, and finishes. All of these boldly contrasting, yet complementary elements work together to achieve an integrated style that perfectly fits the library and ties it into the surrounding campus.
In addition to essential seating and shelving units, Brodart Creative designed and manufactured custom circulation and reference desks, two focal points of the library. Wayfinding signage was also a must in order to provide ample reference to patrons searching for their desired material. A stylized logo, representing PCT (Pennsylvania College of Technology), was incorporated as brushed aluminum appliqués on the tall sketch–face shelving end panels. This same icon is also featured in the structure of the clock tower at the entrance to the building.
The library includes 1,000 seats, a capacity which is based on ALA guidelines. It also features a café, archives and special collections room, Zen garden with waterfall, 15 group study rooms, computer labs, media facilities, and an art gallery.
